For this week's Poetry Jam challenge, Brian has asked us to write a poem, which is a call to action to make a difference in this world. A brilliant person once shared with me the significance of a single leaf used as a metaphor for the human condition. Since transformation originates from a single notion, I thought this little poem is one that may contribute a genesis of consciousness.
Be Leaf
Here
remains the leaf
not insignificant
silent,
well formed
turned over and over.
Suspended,
it resides
in belief
sublime.
Jeanne I. Lakatos

nice...i like the leaf as a metaphor as well...not insignificant at all...love nature too...nice write...
ReplyDeleteLeaves are fascinating - silent, yet each one telling a story.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brian. Great prompt!
ReplyDeleteTrue, Dana, and each story significantly defined by a higher consciousness.
Lovely poem and photos as well. We all could do well to connect more with nature.
ReplyDeleteI like the metaphor.. reminding me to take care of nature.
ReplyDeleteHappy day ~
Without each small leaf the tree would die...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lola.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heaven... and to take care of our own selves, too, as the metaphor intends.
True, Cad! A tree would not be a tree without the leaves. Thanks for dropping by.
That is a big poem.
ReplyDeleteLove these lines
'Suspended,
it resides
in belief'
Thank you, Titus, one of elevated consciousness!
ReplyDeleteAnd days fall like leaves from our tree of life...
ReplyDeleteLike that, Jinksy! Sometimes, I think of leaves as dreams. As they tumble and dance in their autumnal fashion, I think, "Aha! Another dream has been fulfilled!"
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely meditation and I love the sense of time and suspended time and suspension. twinkly
