Poetry Jam: Be Leaf

For this week's Poetry Jam challenge, Brian has asked us to write a poem, which is a call to action to make a difference in this world. A brilliant person once shared with me the significance of a single leaf used as a metaphor for the human condition. Since transformation originates from a single notion, I thought this little poem is one that may contribute a genesis of consciousness.

I took this photo in St. Stephen's Green, Dublin, Ireland in June 2010.

One maple tree leaf

Be Leaf
Here
remains the leaf
not insignificant
silent,
well formed
turned over and over.
Suspended,
it resides
in belief
sublime.

  7. Thank you, Lola.
Thanks, Heaven... and to take care of our own selves, too, as the metaphor intends.
True, Cad! A tree would not be a tree without the leaves. Thanks for dropping by.

  11. Like that, Jinksy! Sometimes, I think of leaves as dreams. As they tumble and dance in their autumnal fashion, I think, "Aha! Another dream has been fulfilled!"
